Class of 1969
Arnett, Mike
Aug 13, 2009
Pris and I are now (Aug 09) in Annapolis, MD. Still working for L-3 Communications, bidding on contracts for engineering services for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, just outside DC.
I plan to be there for the 40th reunion next year.
Am on Facebook. Not sure if it says I'm in Baltimore or where. Annapolis is only 25 miles from Baltimore, so that's close enough.

When's the next reunion? The world waits and wonders.
My current ambition is to re-enter the middle class sometime soon, having experienced the unbearable lightness of domestic IT employment since Y2K.
Among the alternatives I'm considering are:
1) Starting a New Age cult combining the best features of multilevel marketing and CIA MK-ULTRA research: "After we've erased your personality, you'll pay to find out what you think."
2) Offer free search engine and email service over the Internet, but recording and data mining every search you do and everything that comes into or goes out of your email account so I can pimp your data to the highest bidder. (Whoops, already been done...darn!)
3) Control the media, buy up both major parties, and... (Whoops!)
This business of making money is turning out to be harder than I thought. We need a reunion so I can find some good ideas to appropriate.
Until then, hasta la pasta from

Benson you swine! You hired Iowegians? Have you no honor?
This Union busting tactic will not work. We are calling for a general strike. Don't bother bringing your Mercedes in for a tune up as no one will lay a wrench on it now.

Okay, so I'm updating already! Don and the girls are well. Don is still doing computer consulting, Kathryne graduated last June from Harvard and is applying to grad schools (you mean there is more?!), Lauren is a jr. at Chapman University in Orange, CA and I'm still working P/T-3 days a week at the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. But the fun news is Marilyn (Turturici) Tillery, (Parker, CO) and Sheila (Newkirk) Goins, (Jay, OK) and I had a 4 day mini reunion in Sept. meeting in Denver and spending the time in the Glenwood Springs/Aspen CO area. We laughed, drank, ate, slept alittle and laughed some more! There is much to be said for old friends. Marilyn is still married to Roger and has a 22 year old daughter who just graduated from college and lives in Chicago. Sheila has a 25 year old married son and beautiful grandbaby who also live in Jay. Both Marilyn and Sheila send their best to everyone! Hey, '09 is quickly approaching - is anybody interested in planning a reunion? I'm not, but I will surely go if there is one!! Hello to one and all, XO Chris

3 ex-wives, 2 sons (Joshua and Morgan) and 3 granddaughters. In the last 30 years, I've traveled extensively, mostly in Southeast Asia and Central America. These days, I'm retired and taking life easy. I'm sharing my life with 2 cats and Stephanie Padilla. We've been together the last six years and going strong. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

Hey all, I joined the Marines after high school. Met my husband Fred, & moved to Missouri. Put some of our training from the service to use and started a computer business with our partners, (writting software & doing on-line service for financial inst). We have 2 great kids, Jeff, who has been free of cancer over 5 years now & Nicole who has been out of the Marines for 2yrs, & she has made me a grandma to Jacob. Our hobbies: we built and flew helicopters, raised horses, road dirtbikes, did the gyrocopter thing, & shown a few goats. Fred and I have been married 33yrs. We are retiring from the computer business, We have started building custom motorcycles. I missed all the class reunions but hopefully I'll be able to make the next. Have a great day, lifes to short not to.

Theresa lives in Wyoming with her husband Scott. Our middle daughter Christina is married to Gil and they live in San Juan Bautista. The youngest Bryan is engaged to racheal and has a baby on the way. They are living in Eugene oregon. We still own homes in the bay area but we are hoping to retire to our home in grants pass oregon. I still work for the Off Ramp as the Manager for the last 33 years.
Hi all,
This is the bum Tim Edes... (anyway, that's what Dave Mitchell called me !) BTW Dave, where is my 20 bucks ?
I have not moved farther than 50 feet from where I was born and raised. We built a house on our old horse pasture here in Morgan Hill in 1977 and my wife Susan of 37 years and I have lived here ever since. My Mom and Dad (still alive 86 & 89 respectively) live next door in the old house. We have three children, 35, 32 and 26 and two grandchildren. My oldest is a schoolteacher in Huntington Beach, the middle one is a mechanical engineer and the youngest is an attorney.
We have two horses and still ride every week. I still love to hunt, fish and ride dirt bikes. However, my biggest love is bluegrass music. I am heavily involved with the California Bluegrass Association and am the assistant festival director for the Fathers Day Festival at Grass Valley CA. In fact the four day event starts June 18! Yes...I play..the five string banjo. We have weekly jams in Morgan Hill.
I too am getting ready to retire; from the electrical contracting business. I have been an electrician for 37 years...that' enough for me. In that time, I have learned to "keep the smoke in the wire"! My wife retired last month and is loving it. In addition, my wife says I am an old fart/conservative! That pretty much sums it up. I look forward to seeing everyone next July 24 !

It was great seeing everyone again after so long, especially those living so far away. When I received the notice for the reunion, I sent my payment in and noted the date. I didn't see the notice for the web site. I found out about it at the reunion. Here I am working in Silicon Valley, I should know everything has a web site. For those I didn't get to talk to at the reunion, I'm living in Cupertino. I've been married for 26 years. My wife was not able to make the reunion because she was having a reunion of her own with 6 high school friends. We have two children Bryan (21 yrs) and Laura (19 yrs). Bryan is in the Coast Guard just recently stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter Alert out of Astoria OR. Laura just finished her first year at Long Beach State U. majoring in marine biology. She'll be returning in late August. Marilyne works for the trust dept. at Bank of the West. I've had my own engineering company for 16 years. My office is located in downtown San Jose on 4th street. Most of the work I do is related to the communcations business and pipes for oil and gas, but we also do some work. Having your own business has its ups and downs but lately we have been very busy. I don't take many vacations but the business has given me the opportunity to travel to places I likely would never go. Unfortunately, it's hard to bring the family. Well until the next reunion, so long. Maybe with this newfangled thing called e-mail I can do a better job of keeping in touch. Probably not.

I'm sorry I missed the reunion, it sounds like it was a great evening. I'm looking forward to seeing Ann,Leslie and Peggy in Sept. Four wild and crazy 50 year old women on the loose in Santa Cruz! It's amazing how our lives can change so quickly, Peggy is now married and I'm getting a divorce. The paths we are on never stays the same, thank goodness. I'd love to hear from old friends and even new ones!! My daughter is a senior this year and it really makes me stop and think when I tell her she can't do something. I'm sure that "I" didn't do that when I was a senior? I guess I just can't accept her growing up. Hope everyone has had a great summer. Write to me!
So, it looks like there will be no 40th reunion. How sad. Must be the economy...can't be that we're all too lazy. I'm still in Laguna Beach. Working part time as an arbitrator. Enjoying travel with my husband. Not much new to report. Leslie recently got me hooked on Facebook...Time Magazine says it's now for old farts like us so it must be official.

My wife and I still live in Carmichael, CA. We have one son (David) who is finishing his Masters at Humboldt State.
Sharon and I will be at the Catalina Island Jazz Trax again. If you're around the Casino, stop by and say 'Hi'.
Please take a moment to check and update your Live Oak profile & e-mail address. This is a great way to keep in contact as we continue traveling our separate ways.
Would like to hear from Lamont Kennedy, and Robert (Bob) Krough. If anyone knows where these two bums are, please shoot me an e-mail.

40 years...wow. I am still living in Los Gatos, still married but have a new job: startup company that builds applications for social networking, and who knew about Facebook 40 years ago?? Still wondering why we are not past the point of starting new jobs and retiring and traveling, but then that might be boring. Kids: Laurel, a teacher in Indiana and Andy, working with his dad building in Los Gatos after an 18 months long trip to Australia. Keep in touch...Seems we may have a reunion in 2010? Cheers!

I am an executice assistant/office manager for a National Skin Care Company.

What a long and winding road from Live Oak High School to where I am now.I joined the Navy right after graduation. My parents did not want me to be drafted(I had a low draft number)into the Army and end up in that small Southeast Asia country called Vietnam. But as fate or the Navy would have it I did end up there. Not one but twice,1969 to 1970 and 1972 to 1973.I had few close calls while I was in-country but survived, thank you Lord.I like the Navy so much I spent the next 24 years seeing the world from the flight decks of 6 different aircraft carriers. Some where along the way married a very beautiful RN named Crystal, had two wonderful children son Justen and daughter Becky. My son is in the Navy and deployed aboard the aircraft carrier "USS Ronald Reagan"(Go figure?).My daughter Becky is a nursing student at Mansfield College (another go figure,we did not push either one to Navy or Nursing).I retired a Chief Petty Officer from the Navy.I am the senior Loss Prevention Officer for Best Buy(we beat Circuit City's prices)at a distribution center in upstate New York.Hey,if any of my fellow Acorns know the where abouts of that bum Tim Edes shoot me an email,I still owe him money from my last night in Morgan Hill, before I shipped out to war. Please remember "Freedom is not Free,Support our Troops".

Padilla, Stephanie
Mar 09, 2005
Up until last year, I worked as a Human Resources Specialist for the Air Force in Sunnyvale for for 8 years. Before that, I was working for the Navy in Oakland for 22 years. I retired on 3 Mar 2004 with an incentive. Yes, we were downsizing and I opted for the early out--take the money when offered and run! (You never know if it will be offered a second time--especially in Personnel!) I was short of 30 years by 4 months!
Now I'm taking care of Gary and selling a bit on eBay. Gary Bowing and I have been together since our 25-year reunion. He's now a quadraplegic and needs a lot of assistance but still gets around quite a bit. My eBay business has taken off some, and I'm looking into starting my own computer business.
I moved back to the South Bay 9 years ago due to downsizing--and Gary. I also have a sister and brother-in-law who still live in Morgan Hill and a brother who is now our roommate. There are a few other family members in the area also. We would love to hear from any of our classmates. Was glad to hear of the upcoming reunion!

Greetings to everyone~ I'm now in San Diego area and loving it. My husband has changed jobs and is in senior engineer and in charge ofproduction with a CD/DVD manufacturer here. I have recently taken a job with a Commercial Refrigeration Company. It's a great Company, I'm enjoying it and have slowed down a bit since the last job. (Pretty stressful there). Life gets so hectic and goes by way too quickly. If you get down this way, give us a call.
Greetings to the best class ever to come out of Live Oak. After living for over 20 years in the Santa Cruz mountains, I finally eacaped. I am now living in Rocky Point Oregon,a community of 150 people about 40 miles south of Crater Lake. I have been a general contractor liscensed in Cal and Oregon for 17 years doing remodeling and historic restoration. I am currently restoring a hunting/fishing lodge on Pelican Bay upper Klamath Lake, a most beautiful place. The area offers two wilderness areas and a million acres for hiking, bikeing, fishing (20# trout!) and boating, and my front yard is the 19,000 acre wetlands preserve. I am once again single. Every summer I am on staff with the Oregon Country Fair and several music festivals. Visit the lodge at, Pointcomfortlodge.com

Kia Ora! As we say here in Aotearoa ( New Zealand for those of you who haven't yet experienced its wonders) . The quick precis is having married a Kiwi I met at Davis who died ten years ago, I am still here in the Antipodes and it looks to be longterm, With my partner Mike, I've purchased a modest ,by NZ standards, grazing and cropping farm within cooee of the Pacific which we are gently converting to organic production. Having come into this parenting thing late ,I still have teenage kids and no grandchildren to report. I keep myself busy doing investment portfolio management and trustee stuff, farming, being a lay minister with the local Anglican church - yes, I do all the hatch match and dispatch stuff plus consulting for local Maori marine management committees while trying to stay fit, eat our own produce and keep track of the finer details of USTEDs functionings in Mexico (see John Benson's message), It is pretty idyllic when the wind dies down...I often wish for a bit more intellectual stimulation but there's a lot to be said for recognizing most everyone you see and having clean air. Cheers, Phyllis

It was so good to hear of the upcoming reunion!! I currently live in Bakersfield after many years in Idaho.I'm married and have two daughters, 19 and 13 years old. Hi Everyone!
Are we having a reunion? I will be happy to help organize and whatever if someone gets the ball rolling. 40 yrs is big.
My husband Joe and are still living in Gilroy. It is now 19 years for us. All happy. We now have 5 grandkids. My son Joshua Bowling has 3 beautiful girls who are also brilliant. Our daughter has a 3 1/2 yr old and a newborn. Our son is still single. Know any nice single 30 yr olds? My parents are both still with us and just celebrated their 60th.
I am still with the school district. I just had my 29th anniversary. I am back at Live Oak. I still like what I do so I guess I will stay a few more years.
Give me a call and let's get a reunion going. We deserve it.

I'm currently teaching Special Ed kids in the Gold Country & tutoring Indian Ed (no, Mr. Benson...we do not here refer to an Injun named Edward).
Twice divorced...father of two & Appa of one; all girls & all WONDROUS beings. Granddaughter is 10...honor roll...black belt in Tae Kwon Do..her mom is a secretary & her aunt is an English teacher & they ALL think and do for themselves.
I still write country songs & am shopping some of them in Nashville.Mark Chestnut has just recently picked up one of my tunes.
Most of my life I've been playing music & continue to do so.
In love with a cowgirl named Sue & we're making a life together.
I remember all of you & wish the very best & remember you in my prayers.
